The Club knows! Today, each and every day, over 85 kids are served at our 2 locations. Yet, as the tough times deepen, more families, more kids will need The Positive Place for Kids! These new demands have inspired the Board and Staff of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills to reach out to further its mission, "To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”
They Need Us
The young people we serve are directly impacted by the changes in the nation today. Of our 400+ members, approximately 50% come from families with household incomes below the federal poverty guidelines. We have also seen significant increases in use of our services by families falling within higher income brackets that have been forced to take on second jobs, or who needed to find other programs for their children.
Hope Amidst Trying Times
Each child that walks through our door has one unique future. One may come from a loving, single-parent family. One may speak little English. One may not have a home. At the
Boys & Girls Club, it is our privilege to give each child a real sense of hope and opportunity. We work to help each child reach his/her individual potential and we carry out our mission with care. We do it one child at a time.
Professional staff members at the Boys & Girls Club of the Black Hills are experts at providing the guidance a young person needs to develop positive character. A Safe Place….for those who might otherwise be left alone after school or on the streets with no guidance. The Club is a safe place to play and a place safe enough to be yourself.
Life-Enhancing Programs…that can open young minds. The
Boys & Girls Club exposes youth to new ideas and skills that prepare them for life. We teach the importance of character in all of our programs.
A Relationship with Caring, Trained Adults…the better the programs, the more children we can attract, the more likely they will build a relationship with a caring adult, the more opportunity for the Boys & Girls Club to positively influence the character of a child.
Hope and Opportunity…as young people experience our Club, we become a place for hope. Hope leads to increased confidence and a brighter future.
Our staff is dedicated to teaching the importance of character in daily life. They are caring adults who strive to direct children to choose right from wrong. They instill a sense of belonging and promote feelings of competence. They give children a chance to make positive choices.

Remember: It costs a child only $25.00 a year for a child to become a member,
while it costs the Club $806 a year per member to serve each child’s needs!
